Canadian theaters set to Slug it Out

On the heels of announcing the US release of Slugterra: Return of the Elementals, Vancouver-based Nerd Corps Entertainment is bringing its slug-laden property to theaters across Canada.

On the heels of announcing the release of Slugterra: Return of the Elementals in American theaters, Vancouver-based Nerd Corps Entertainment is bringing the slug-laden animated flick to theaters across Canada.

Nerd Corps has partnered with Cineplex to run the feature in more than 50 theaters in Canada on August 21 and 23. Exclusive slug figures will be given to 25 moviegoers at each theater.

The new 70-minute movie builds on the Slugterra TV show, which premiered on Disney XD Canada in September 2012. The boy-skewing action series now airs in over 170 countries, supplemented by interactive content including the hit mobile game Slug it Out.

To further support the Slugterra brand, Nerd Corps is upping the brand’s retail presence. The Slugterra toyline from Jakks Pacific – available at Target stores in Canada – will introduce new toys later this year and next. Slugterra-themed products are also rolling out in Latin America and Europe, with others slated to launch worldwide later this year.

Slugterra is a Nerd Corps original property, created by the studio’s founder and CEO Asaph (Ace) Fipke. A truly Canadian production, it’s developed, produced, distributed, marketed and licensed in-house from the company’s Vancouver studio and Toronto offices.
