India’s Toonz Media Group has joined forces with L.A.-based mobile entertainment network ReachMe.TV to launch Toonz TV, a new animation-focused kids and family channel distributed via ReachMe.TV’s in-airport and in-hotel networks.
Toonz TV features free content, including a Toonz Channel and selection of bingeable series on ReachMe.TV’s mobile web platform, that’s now available to a potential audience of more than 100 million US viewers.
ReachMe.TV’s 24/7 hotel network currently reaches more than 750,000 rooms in top-tier US hotels with an estimated reach of 30 million viewers per month.
Its in-airport screens, meanwhile, reach approximately 80 million-plus viewers per month in the top 50 US airports.
Toonz TV is expected to roll out internationally in the third quarter of 2017.
The channel draws from Toonz’s international animation catalog, as well as new shows produced by Toonz’s Triravndrum-based studio and ReachMe.TV’s brand new production space in Hollywood.
In addition, Toonz TV will support families on the go with games, free in-room movie packages and popular downloads.
Interactive games that incorporate AR and VR are also in the works, and select ReachMe.TV programming will be accessible on Toonz’s global multi-channel network that operates on platforms including YouTube, Dailymotion, Roku, YuppTV and Amazon Prime.
With nearly two decades of experience in the kids animation space, Toonz has secured collaborations with major players including Disney, Marvel, Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, BBC Worldwide, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Discovery Kids, Google and Madrid-based Imira, which it acquired in 2015.
Toonz also recently partnered with Sharmaji Productions to create Uma and Devan Namaste!, the first preschool series about an Indian-American family.
