On the heels of announcing new episodes of preschool classic Teletubbies, Canada’s DHX Media has tapped UK-based toy company Character Options as the brand’s global master toy partner.

The deal was completed by DHX Brands, DHX Media’s dedicated brand and consumer products arm that launched this June.

Character Options, a subsidiary of Character Group, has signed on to create plush, plastic and bath toys. The products will roll out in the UK in 2016, with other regions set to follow.

The new 60-episode series of Teletubbies was commissioned by the BBC’s preschool channel CBeebies, and is being produced by Darrall Macqueen. The original series created by Anne Wood launched in 1997, and has since aired in 120 countries. Still proving popular among today’s toddlers, the series’ YouTube postings have landed more than 40 million views per month through the first half of 2014.

Teletubbies joins Character Options’ growing slate of licenses, which currently includes Fireman Sam (HIT Entertainment), Peppa Pig (eOne), Scooby-Doo (Warner Bros.) and Postman Pat (DreamWorks Classics).
