Licensing and brand management firm Evolution is bringing a new retail program based on Summertime Entertainment’s upcoming 3D film Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return to this month’s Licensing Expo.

Based on the original book series by Roger Stanton Baum – the great grandson of Oz franchise creator L. Frank Baum – the Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return animated film will star the voice talents of Lea Michele, Kelsey Grammer, Martin Short, Jim Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, among others.

The May 2014 North American release of the film will be accompanied by the movie’s soundtrack by Sony Music and a DVD/Blu-Ray release will follow from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment in the fall.

Evolution is managing the licensing and retail program, which includes merchandise, packaged goods and video games. The CDM Company has also been hired to represent Summertime Entertainment for promotional and partnership campaigns in categories including QSR/family dining, pet retail, insurance and hospitality.

The roster of US licensees currently on-board to launch the program include master toy partner Bandai America, Added Extras (cosmetics/beauty), Attraction Media & Entertainment (3D/4D film attractions), Culturenik (novelty), DecoPac (cake decorating), Housewares International (housewares), Hybrid/JEM (apparel), Hypnotic (hosiery/socks), KidDesign/SDI (music/electronics), Loungefly (accessories) and Madame Alexander Doll Company (collectible dolls).
