Nintendo characters head for the toy aisle

Classic Nintendo video game characters like Mario and Princess Peach are taking new form thanks to a licensing deal with Jakks Pacific. The toymaker will manufacture, market and distribute a line of toys and related consumer products for almost all Nintendo properties.
The line of toys, games, playthings, novelties, plush, key chains will hit US retailers in spring 2014, while the company’s Halloween costume division, Disguise, is launching costumes and accessories in time for this upcoming Halloween season. Costumes will feature such characters as Mario and Luigi, Donkey Kong, Princess Peach, Game Link and Zelda, among others.
The agreement covers global territories with the exception of Japan and Korea.
