Hasbro and Egmont sign deal for interactive storybooks

Hasbro is partnering with Egmont Kids Media to create interactive storybook apps for the iPad based on My Little Pony, Transformers Prime and Littlest Pet Shop for select European markets.

Egmont’s international division, Egmont Kids Media, has been publishing children’s books and magazines under license from Hasbro for a number of years and the two companies have now expanded their affiliation to include digital rights throughout Europe for the brands.

The My Little Pony reading apps will be based on My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. The first interactive storybook will be released beginning in November 2012 followed by a second in January 2013. The Littlest Pet Shop and the Transformers Prime storybook apps are due to launch by the second quarter of 2013.

The three storybook apps will be available from the iTunes Store.
