SD partners to launch new 3D production studio

L.A.-based animation prodco Sabella Dern (SD) Entertainment has partnered with Austin City Limits Live’s in-house prodco Stageside Productions and Video Equipment Rentals to launch the first permanent stereoscopic 3D production studio in the US.

The companies aim to bring 3D acquisition and broadcast technologies to advertisers and content producers of sitcoms, concerts and sporting events.

ACL Live is a 2,750 capacity performance and production facility that transforms into a 10,000 square foot state-of-the-art sound stage and stereoscopic 3D/2D production facility.

SD, which was formed by the former heads of MGM Animation, Paul Sabella and Jonathan Dern, has worked on a number of hit kids property, including turning Bob the Builder into 3D and Angelina Ballerina, Care Bears, and Noddy into CG-animated formats.
