With throngs of kids both owning and borrowing their parents’ mobile devices, it was only a matter of time before Disney-owned virtual world Club Penguin, which currently boasts 150 million registered users, would make its foray into the mobile space.

Available now in the App Store for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, Puffle Launch features games that allow players to blast pet Puffles through a series of 24 different levels. The app is based on the original Puffle Launch game, which debuted within Club Penguin in March 2010 and is now played by more than 150,000 kids every day within the virtual world.

The app joins an entertainment portfolio that includes toys and Nintendo DS and Wii games. All branded products connect back to the virtual world, and Puffle Launch is no different.  For example, kids can earn virtual coins through the app-based games, which can then be transferred to the online world.

It looks like this only marks the beginning for the Club Penguin mobile experience, as more apps are expected to follow in the next year.
