1998 NCAA Championship Video rushed into stores

The Official 1998 NCAA Championship Video bounces into video stores May 5, just 30 days after the final game. The collectible video from CBS Video focuses on the National Championship team and its road to glory. It features exclusive post-final game interviews, on-court footage and camera angles not shown on TV. The video will retail for a suggested price of US$19.98. CBS Video has supported the release with a targeted advertising and public relations campaign in the U.S., including TV spots during the airing of the tournament on CBS, as well a post-final game blitz of TV, radio and print ads in major college and local newspapers and magazines.

Snoopy on the green

Charlie Brown’s stoical pooch will soon be adorning kids golf equipment and accessories. United Media has signed an agreement with The La Jolla Club Golf Company that will see it create and market golf sets, clubs and bags for kids that incorporate images of Snoopy and other Peanuts characters. Snoopy’s Clubs and Peanuts Junior Set will be sold individually, or as a set (for US$59.95) with other golf products at national retail chains and sporting-goods stores in the U.S. in the third quarter of this year.

Sony Wonder sings with Su-Ling video

On May 26, Sony Wonder’s animated musical The Legend of Su-Ling will begin hitting retail stores. The feature, which is the latest in Sony Wonder’s Enchanted Tales series, follows the lives of the powerful Emperor Chow, and his lovelorn son Prince Chen, who eventually forsakes the crown and his father to be with his true love, Su-Ling. Sony Wonder has teamed up with Discovery Zone to promote the video, along with other Enchanted Tales titles, at the retail level via in-store displays, interactive games and a Legend of Su-Ling picture puzzle, which will be bundled with each video package. Other promotions include a Legend of Su-Ling interactive game on Sony Wonder’s Web site ( as well as an on-air television enter-to-win promotion that will run in major markets during kids programming blocks. The suggested retail price of the The Legend of Su-Ling is US$9.98.
