PBS KIDS renews Donkey Hodie for season three

The show is also prepping its first-ever crossover featuring Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood.

Preschool puppet series Donkey Hodie has scored a third-season greenlight from PBS KIDS.

Fred Rogers Productions (FRP) and Spiffy Pictures will roll out the package of 15 x 22-minutes episodes (including two specials) sometime in 2025. The series follows a fun-loving donkey who enjoys learning new things and solving problems with her friends.

Harnessing the evergreen appeal of crossovers, this season will feature an episode that brings fellow FRP preschool hit Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood into the fold while giving puppet-based makeovers to the previously 2D-animated characters Daniel and Dad Tiger. (Speaking of new formats, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood kicked off its seventh season this week with a revamp that includes stories from the perspective of the titular tiger’s friends for the first time.)

Since launching in 2021, Donkey Hodie has expanded internationally, with broadcasters like TVOKids (Canada), Canal Panda (Spain) and Ejunior (UAE) picking it up. It has also developed a robust presence in consumer products, including books (Simon & Schuster), a plush range by master toy partner Jada Toys and apparel/costumes by Komar, Mad Engine and Rubies.
