Germany’s Studio 100 International and Caligari Film are teaming up to co-produce a new CG-animated kids movie called Dougie Dolittle (80 minutes).
Aimed at eight to 12s and families, the film is about a teen boy with a major case of zoophobia who suddenly discovers that he can speak to animals. He must somehow overcome his fears in order to help his new animal pals take down an evil pet food company.
Studio Isar Animation (Studio 100’s Munich-based animation hub) and Spain’s 3Doubles Producciones (which Studio 100 acquired a stake in last October) are also working on the project, according to Variety. Studio100 has a long history of collaborating with 3Doubles on films like Mia and Me, and its recent investment plays into a strategy to increase the output of features and series at both companies. They are also busy working together on a family film called Flamingo Flamenco.
Dougie Dolittle should be ready to roll out in Q4 2026. Studio 100 Film is managing global sales and will be presenting the pic at Marché du Film, which takes place in Cannes from May 14 to 22.
Caligari’s Gabriele Walther and Studio 100’s Thorsten Wegener are attached as producers, with Regina Welker (Latte and the Magic Waterstone) on board to direct. And Mark Slater (Princess Lillifee) is penning the script with veteran screenwriter Philip LaZebnik (Mulan) consulting.
