The international non-profit association behind Cartoon Forum and Cartoon Movie is launching a new event next spring. CartoonNext is set to take place in Marseille, France from April 12 to 15, and will focus on what’s next for the animation industry in terms of creation, production and distribution.
Its three-day program will feature keynotes and pitching sessions, and topics of interest include sustainability, increasing synergies with other industries like gaming and publishing, and how new technologies are shaping the future of animation. Registration details will be announced soon.
CartoonNext partners include Creative Europe Media, Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur, Aix Marseille Provence, Sudanim and Ville de Marseille. And C21 Media, Neumann & Müller and Fabrique Fantastique are on board as collaborators.
After pivoting to a virtual event in 2020, Cartoon Forum returned to an live event format this past September in Toulouse, France. A number of popular series have emerged from the pitchfest in the past, including Daily Madness Productions’ Goat Girl (pictured) and the wildly successful Peppa Pig.
