American Greetings Properties has tapped Zodiak Kids executive Karen Vermeulen as its new head of global sales and co-productions.

Vermeulen spent the last five years as SVP of global sales and co-production at London’s Zodiak Kids, where she managed business strategy and worked closely with the likes of Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Cartoon Network, Nick Jr., Hulu and Sprout.

In the wake of its February sale of Strawberry Shortcake to Iconix for US$105 million, AGP president Sean Gorman has also restructured its executive team to better focus on its Care Bears brand. Care Bears currently has content airing in more than 100 countries, new toys rolling out worldwide, and Netflix original series Care Bears and Cousins set to debut in 2016.

VP of marketing Janice Ross has been promoted to head of global licensing; former VP of creative Megan Buettner is now head of AGP’s creative studio and new media; and former director of public relations Angelina Castro is now the company’s head of marketing.

AGP’s head of development and production Ryan Wiesbrock, and head of business affairs Peter Baghdassarian, will continue in their current roles.

Gorman, Ross, Castro, Wiesbrock and Baghdassarian are based at the company’s L.A. office, while Buettner will continue to work out of AGP’s headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio. Vermeulen will initially be based in London.
