Remember that buzzy but light-on-details partnership announcement that came out in December from Aardman and The Pokémon Company? We now have some more answers about what it is.

The two kids industry titans have announced that they’re working together on a new stop-motion series called The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, revolving around these two pocket monsters.

The project was officially revealed in a teaser video that played during yesterday’s “Pokémon Presents” livestream—an occasional series of virtual presentations designed to provide fans with all the latest updates about the ever-growing Pokémon brand.

The series will likely rely on whimsical humor, based on this sneak-peek, which shows a Wooloo (a sheep-like Pokémon) munching on some grass as chaos erupts in the background between Sirfetch’d and Pichu.

Solid plot details aren’t available yet, but Aardman co-founder and creative director Peter Lord did give a few hints. “We’ll be putting some very special Pokémon front and center as the heroes of our show, and it will be set in a region which is very close to our hearts,” he said during the livestream. He also teased that the series will take a unique look at the Pokémon world, tapping into some of Aardman’s signature comedy and character sensibilities. In the Pokémon universe, the duck-like character Sirfetch’d is a fighting type that evolves from a Galarian Farfetch’d, while Pichu is an electric type that evolves into franchise fan-favorite Pikachu.

This collaboration with Aardman continues the Pokémon brand’s adventures in stop motion, following in the footsteps of Pokémon Concierge, which debuted on Netflix in 2023. Set at a holiday resort for Pokémon, Concierge will drop a second season on the streamer in September.
