Netflix and The Pokémon Company have teamed up to co-develop a new stop-motion animated series called Pokémon Concierge (pictured), which Japan’s Dwarf Studios is lined up to produce.
The new concept is set at a holiday resort for Pokémon, where concierge Haru crosses paths with a strange creature named Psyduck. This marks the first time The Pokémon Company and Netflix have teamed up on an original series.
However, Netflix has acquired a variety of Pokémon content in recent years, including picking up worldwide rights (excluding Asia) to 2D-animated special Pokémon: The Arceus Chronicles last September. The streamer also added CG-animated movie Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution to its lineup in February 2020.
Pokémon Concierge was announced as part of The Pokémon Company’s celebration of Pokémon Day yesterday (February 27). Other upcoming 2023 releases that were teased in the announcement include: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, a downloadable content addition for the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games; a new collectible card game from design firm Nendo; Android and iOS mobile game Pokémon Sleep; and the Pokémon GO Plus+ Bluetooth device that links to the Pokémon GO app and lets players catch creatures even when they’re asleep.
