DEALS: BBC Studios is bringing Bluey to European cinemas

Plus, CAMP is launching its first Peppa Pig-themed attraction in Washington, and Milkshake! commissions Move It, Milkshakers! from Doc Hearts.

  • After a successful run in the UK and Ireland, BBC Studios is rolling out its Bluey at the Cinema: Let’s Play Chef Collection film in European cinemas later this month through partnerships with Piece of Magic Entertainment and Vue Lumière. This package of eight Bluey episodes will debut in Spain on July 23, followed by launches across France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland. 

 

  • Specialty retailer CAMP has partnered with Hasbro and Merlin Entertainments to launch its first Peppa Pig in-store experience on July 25. The 5,000-square-foot attraction will open at CAMP’s flagship store in Washington, DC, where kids will be able to jump in muddy puddles, help George find his missing gift at the dinosaur park, and meet Peppa’s new baby sister Evie for the grand finale. The retailer will support this attraction with curated Peppa merchandise including figures, playsets, plush and LEGO sets. 

 

  • Milkshake! is bolstering its live-action slate by commissioning London-based prodco  Doc Hearts to make a new series for preschoolers called Move It, Milkshakers! (26 x 10 minutes). In each episode, presenters Kemi Majeks and Derek Moran will take kids through imaginative missions focused on a letter of the alphabet, collecting J-shaped vines in the jungle, for example. Additionally, Milkshake! has renewed Daisybeck Studios’ Animal Care Club for two more seasons that will premiere on the preschool block next year along with Move It

 

  • PFM Entertainment Group has optioned the rights to adapt Avione Lee’s adventure novel Pied into a live-action series. The book features a young boy named Rim, who one day discovers he possesses magical powers when he plays his pipe. Unable to control these powers, Rim aspires to join the exclusive Piper Association, but first he must pass a series of tests. 

 

  • Airbnb has teamed up with The Peyo Company to open up a Smurfs-themed stay for families in the Belgian Woods. Bookings for the four-hour experience—which gives guests an opportunity to learn archery, make their own Smurf hat and enjoy a feast at Papa Smurf’s recreated mushroom house—will open on August 3. Families are to be selected at random through a digital lottery system on Airbnb’s website, and they’ll stay for free.
