- BBC Studios has brought in Australia’s Cosmic Dino Studio to provide end-to-end animation services for its upcoming Bluey feature film. And on the strength of this deal, Cosmic has also contracted Fourth Wall Animation and UTA to represent its services—including writing screenplays, developing storyboards and producing CG-animated scenes—in the international market.
- Disney has partnered with ABC’s Good Morning America to produce a series of Disney Jr. Let’s Play segments inspired by Bluey, Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse that will run throughout the summer to get kids moving and playing. The well-known morning show will also use this time to let parents know about Disney Jr.-branded play events happening around the US, including roller rink parties, new activations at Disney California Adventure resort and the Downtown Disney District and a traveling concert tour that is now in its international run.
- Digitoonz Spain has picked up global distribution rights to a new 2D-animated preschool series called Bibopalula (55 x five minutes) from Undodez and Televisión de Galicia. The toon premiered last year on TVG, following four little birds who decide to form a music band in the forest.
- IDW Publishing is expanding its partnership with Mattel to produce five comic book issues based on the ’90s 2D-animated series Street Sharks. Rolling out monthly from September on, they will see the toon’s four iconic shark brothers reunite to protect Fission City from new gene-warped monsters and mad scientists.
- Folivari International has acquired global distribution rights to the upcoming CG-animated adventure series Pil’s Adventures (52 x 13 minutes) from French prodco TAT Productions. It’s the continuation of a same-name feature film that was released in 2021, and presales are in place with SVT (Sweden) and RTS (Switzerland).
- Magic Light Pictures has tapped VLM Licensing and Consulting to represent the merch interests of its flagship IP The Gruffalo in Italy. VLM will oversee the execution of existing licensing partnerships for the iconic preschool brand, starting with rolling out new plush products from German toyco Simba. But the agency has also been charged with exploring new Italian partnerships in apparel, homeware, food and digital products.
