Paris-based Cyber Group Studios is partnering with distribution company Pacific Media Group to launch The Tales of Tatonka across China. The show premiered on CCTV last week and will soon launch on Chinese digital platforms.
Targeting kids ages five to seven, the 52 x 13-minute series follows the adventures of four wolf cubs exploring nature. Written by Cyber Group Studios chairman and CEO Pierre Sissmann and directed by Olivier Lelardoux, each Tatonka episode features an 11-minute animated foundation and a live-action segment that depicts real animals in the wild.
The news comes as Cyber Group Studios continues to expand internationally. Last year, the company launched its Cyber Group Studios US subsidiary in an effort to establish a North American foothold, as well as partnering with UK investment company L-GAM to boost its long-term global growth strategy.
In February, DHX’s digital kids network WildBrain took over management of Cyber Group’s YouTube channels and digital presence. In addition to managing pre-existing brands, WildBrain will also jointly develop digital-exclusive productions with Cyber Group. The companies will announce their first IP this spring.
