Looking to harness the timeless appeal of magazine format programming, the Beeb has ordered a new educational series called Playtime Towers (pictured) for CBeebies.

This live-actioner for the two-to-four set hails from BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions, with EP Anna Perowne (Gigglebiz) overseeing filming in Glasgow, Scotland. A release date has not yet been determined. 

Hosted by Bella (Rose-Marie Christian) and her mechanical bestie LIFT, Playtime Towers is set in a three-storey lowrise where each floor offers a range of fun things to do, from arts & crafts and dance parties, to puzzles and storytelling. Episodes will see Bella and LIFT leading real children on a discovery journey to try out these playtime activities, with everything tying into the unique theme of each ep. 

This is just the latest commission for CBeebies, which recently stocked up on new titles including The Football Fantastics (10 x 14 minutes) and Dodge’s Pup School (13 x 11 minutes).
