The Pinkfong Company has partnered with Saudi media conglom MBC Group to make its content available on Arabic-language streamer Shahid.
As part of the deal, the SVOD is picking up nearly 500 episodes of series, songs and shorts produced by Pinkfong—all dubbed in Arabic for the first time. This package, which will also be offered in English and French, includes viral YouTube video Baby Shark Dance and CG-animated sing-along movie Pinkfong and Baby Shark’s Space Adventure (55 minutes).
Shahid’s kids lineup currently includes content from France’s Cyber Group Studios and Canada’s WildBrain. The platform will also launch Singapore-based Omens Studios’ preschool series 123 Number Squad! in summer 2023.
Pinkfong’s content already has an established audience in the MENA region—its YouTube channels there have more than nine million subscribers across 24 countries, according to a release.
This MBC partnership is part of Pinkfong’s strategy to localize its content in order to make it even more accessible in key international markets where the brand already ranks high in popularity—building audiences through dubbing and expanding the IP’s presence on platforms beyond YouTube.
Last month, the company expanded its reach in Brazil by launching 65 Baby Shark episodes dubbed in Portuguese on Grupo Globo’s OTT platform Giga Gloob. This effort followed on the heels of an interactive Pinkfong Wonderstar exhibition that was featured at Brazil’s Korean Cultural Center last year.
