Apple TV+ has ordered the first-ever animated adaption of Harriet the Spy from The Jim Henson Company and Rehab Entertainment, with Titmouse Animation Studios lined up for animation.

The new series features a big voice cast, including Beanie Feldstein (Booksmart, Lady Bird) as Harriet and Jane Lynch (Glee) as Ole Golly, Harriet’s nanny.

Apple’s project is based on the book by Louse Fitzhugh that was originally published in 1964, and it will be written and executive produced by Will McRobb (The Adventures of Pete & Pete). Sidney Clifton (Me, Eloise and Lena!) will serve as producer; and Henson’s Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford, Rehab’s John Hyde and Terissa Kelton, and Wendy Moss-Klein and Nancy Steingard of 2 Friends Entertainment are all executive producing.

Apple TV+ has not released any other details about the series.

Henson picked up the rights to Harriet the Spy in 2018 and began developing its 2D-animated concept to target six to 12s. At the time, Karrot Animation was on board to animate the series.

This marks the second project between Henson, Rehab and Sidney Clifton. Announced last month, the trio is also adapting Lena! based on Karen Katz’s books The Colors of Us and My America.
