Toronto, Canada’s Sinking Ship Entertainment has inked a deal with Hong Kong-based distributor Jolly Group to represent Odd Squad (pictured), Annedroids and Chirp in the region, marking the first time the Canadian prodco has appointed an agent in China.
The agreement will see Jolly Group—formerly PPW Digital—handle distribution and licensing for three properties, as well as finding new digital opportunities for other Sinking Ship content in China. The company will also be responsible for creating strategies for Chinese licensing and merchandising. Jolly Group has more than 20 branches on five continents, and already reps hit preschool properties including Peppa Pig and Teletubbies.
This latest news is part of Sinking Ship’s strategic expansion plan—with China being a major region of focus for the prodco in the year ahead. In other regions, German kids broadcaster KiKA picked up the second season of Odd Squad for German-speaking Europe last month, and Nat Geo Kids LatAm recently snapped up pay-TV rights for season one and two of Sinking Ship’s live-action/CGI series Dino Dana.
