Children’s musical group The Wiggles and Australia’s ABC Music have partnered with app developer Weyo to launch The Wiggles–Fun with Faces. The new AR/3D app is available for a free one-week trial on iPhones and iPads in Canada and the US; after that, access to its full content will cost USS$1.99 per month or US$19.99 per year.
Aimed at two- to five-year-olds, the app features digital stickers, face masks and filters of dinosaurs and octopuses, as well as sing- and play-along video content. It also includes an interactive story time narrated by Emma, the first female Wiggle, that makes the kid user the story’s protagonist.
Fun with Faces showcases classics Wiggles tunes like “Rock-a-bye Your Bear,” “Old MacDonald Had a Farm,” and “Hot Potato,” with new content regularly added. Children can join The Wiggles on-screen by filming themselves singing along, and then these videos can be saved to the device’s library to watch later.
Fully compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the app doesn’t collect user data or save content on the servers.
The launch of Fun with Faces comes as brand awareness of The Wiggles in the US continues to grow. Earlier this year, the musical group inked an agreement with Barnes & Noble to sell toys from US master toy partner Fun 2 Play Toys both online and in stores. It also recently signed new North American licensing agreements with TCG Toys (puzzles, games and floor mats), Danawares (tabletop, stationery, craft and activity), Jcorp (daywear), Gertex Hosiery (headwear and hosiery), Centura Brands (health, beauty and bath) and Riley Blake Designs (fabric and DIY).
