Hit Cartoon Network series Adventure Time is returning in January with an eight-part miniseries, dubbed Adventure Time: Islands, which will focus on Finn the Human’s mysterious past.

The four-night special event will run from January 30 to February 2. Ahead of the linear premiere, fans can see Islands on DVD, iTunes, Amazon Video and Google Play.

Adventure Time: Islands follows Finn, Jake, BMO and Susan Strong as they leave the Land of Ooo on a quest across the ocean and into new lands.

Adventure Time: Stakes, the toon’s first eight-part miniseries, debuted on Cartoon Network in November 2015, ranking as the number-one program in its time period with all key kids and boys audiences.

In addition to special event miniseries, Cartoon Network recently branched out to launch its first-ever Adventure Time live interactive gaming experience this summer. The exclusive partnership with London-based tech studio Hellicar&Lewis saw An Ooo Experience playable at select UK shopping centers.
