Genius Products, The Weinstein Company and Sesame Workshop have just announced a long-term video distribution and co-production agreement.

The deal makes Genius Products the exclusive North American distributor for Sesame Workshop’s stable of content featuring iconic characters such as Elmo, Oscar the Grouch and Big Bird. And the video distributor will rep more than 100 existing titles, including Sesame Street, Sesame Beginnings, Elmo’s World and Pinky Dinky Doo, which bowed last spring. The agreement also opens the door to future co-productions for television or direct-to-DVDs. However, for the term of the deal, Genius will maintain home video and some digital distribution rights. Further details were not disclosed.

Genius Products, which is co-owned by The Weinstein Company, currently handles the distribution, marketing and sales for WWE, Baby Genius, ESPN and Dimension Films.
