People moves: DreamWorks snaps up Phelan

Kerry Phelan has moved over to Dreamworks Animation as head of worldwide licensing from her post as VP of consumer products at rival animation house, Pixar.

Kerry Phelan has joined Hollywood studio DreamWorks Animation as head of worldwide licensing. She will report to Anne Globe, head of worldwide marketing and consumer products.

Phelan is responsible for the development of all DreamWorks Animation consumer products strategies, licensing partnerships, creative development and retail initiatives. The first program she’ll take the lead on is Shrek the Third, with product scheduled to roll out as the film hits theaters on May 18. Most recently, Phelan served as VP of consumer products at Pixar, but she racked up the bulk of her licensing experience during a six-year stint at Lucasfilm working on programs for the company’s blockbuster Star Wars franchise.
