Illinois-based Spiffy Pictures has secured second and third season commissions for its PBS KIDS series Nature Cat. Co-produced with PBS’s WTTW Chicago, the upcoming 35 x half-hour season of the educational animated series will bow next fall with two hour-long specials in tow.

Airing twice daily on PBS stations across the US, the multi-platform series features vocal talents from Saturday Night Live vets Taran Killam (Nature Cat), Kate McKinnon, Bobby Moynihan, Chris Parnell, Kenan Thompson and Kate Micucci. It follows the titular character as he embarks on adventures with his friends in the great outdoors.

HiHat Media handles the show’s brand licensing efforts in the US, and Canada’s 9 Story Media Group holds international distribution and consumer product rights to the series, which has already been licensed to Family CHRGD (Canada), VT (Sweden), TG4 (Ireland), SIC (Portugal), Canal Panda (Spain), Nick Jr. via Funwood Media (Italy), E Junior (the Middle East) and Hop TV (Israel).

Since its debut in November 2015, Nature Cat has reached 10.3 million kids ages two to 11, and the brand averages 13.5 million streams per month across all PBS KIDS digital platforms.
