David Lynn has been appointed EVP and MD of MTV Networks UK and Ireland, replacing outgoing boss Michiel Bakker. Lynn was previously MD of Nickelodeon UK and now reports directly to MTV Networks International president Bob Bakish. Lynn takes responsibility for all MTVN UK operations, including 17 TV channels, 16 websites and four mobile channels, as well as an interest in Nickelodeon UK. A successor to Lynn is expected to be announced in the next few weeks.
Meanwhile, Heather Jones steps into the newly created role of EVP of content & creative for MTVN. Reporting to Lynn, she’ll manage all multiplatform content and brand strategies for MTVN’s comedy and music brands.
These moves come on the heels of MTVNI’s parent company Viacom announcing intentions to reorganize its media divisions. The full extent of a 250-job cut are expected to be revealed in June.
