Australian public kidsnet ABC3 will officially have a new look and name beginning September 19.
In appealing to a digital-savvy demo of seven- to -15-year-olds, the channel is set to become ABC ME, and the change is being supported by a companion viewing app and new programming that includes the weekly pop culture review show News to Me, sci-fi action animation series Prisoner Zero (pictured) and short-form documentary series This Is Me.
The new content lineup will sit alongside bolstered mobile and short-form content initiatives, as well as returning series like Nowhere Boys, You’re Skitting Me, Little Lunch, Good Game SP and Behind the News.
ABC3 hasn’t been averse to change since its inception in 2009. For one, the channel received an expanded two-hour kids education block in July 2014, following the successful migration of ABC’s children’s programming from ABC1 to dedicated digital channels ABC4Kids and ABC3 earlier that year.
