Sesame’s former EVP of content Karen Gruenberg and ex-chief media officer of MapMyFitness Dan Hurwitz have joined kids fitness brand GoNoodle in the newly created positions of CCO and chief revenue officer, respectively.
In her new role, Gruenberg will be tasked with developing GoNoodle’s movement-based videos and games strategy, widening distribution, and seeking licensing opportunities for the company’s characters and content.
Hurwitz, for his part, will lead GoNoodle’s sales force to drive revenues, concentrating on cultivating more relationships with national brands, community partners and schools.
Gruenberg joins the company after 19 years at Sesame, where she led content production, creative development, distribution, licensing and corporate sponsorship. She was instrumental in the creation of the original Nick/Children’s Television Workshop channel Noggin and US preschool net Sprout.
Most recently, she served as the founder and CEO of her own independent kids media and marketing consulting firm, KSG Projects. Her clients included Nat Geo, Chicago public TV station WTTW and Epic Records.
Prior to his stint with digital fitness community MapMyFitness, Hurwitz worked for a number of venture-backed digital media businesses including Evergage and Audience Science.
Since launching in 2013, GoNoodle’s library of short, interactive movement-based videos and games have found their way into 75% of US public elementary schools in all 50 states, as well as schools in 175 countries around the world.
Currently, more than 10 million kids and 500,000 teachers use GoNoodle every month in the classroom, and nearly 1.5 million families use GoNoodle content at home.
