Build-A-Bear Workshop enjoyed an 18% spike in revenues for the first quarter of 2007. The retailer of customized stuffed animals generated sales of US$116.8 million during the period, compared to US$98.6 million last year. Meanwhile, first quarter net income rang in at US$8.1 million, down from US$8.3 million last year.
Acquisitions in the UK had an impact on the bottom line this time around, however, the opening of four new stores in North America and two new outlets in the UK really drove the sales increase. Online sales also proved to be a bright spot, shooting up 24.1% to US$3.1 million.
Currently the retailer operates 237 stores in North America and 40 in the UK.
