Stuart Snyder has been chosen to lead Turner Broadcasting System’s newly aligned portfolio of cable networks, digital properties and entertainment businesses for kids and young adults.

Snyder will replace former GM Jim Samples, who resigned earlier this year in the wake of the Boston area outdoor marketing gaffe that caused the network some embarrassment.

As the new EVP and COO of animation, young adults & kids media, Snyder will oversee Turner assets including Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Adult Swim, as well as digital businesses Cartoonnetwork.com, AdultSwim.com, Toonami Jetstream, Cartoon Network Video, GameTap and Super Deluxe. Snyder will also be responsible for two US-based animation production facilities: Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank, California and Williams Street Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.

Snyder is also expected to liaise with TBS International and Cartoon Network Asia Pacific, Cartoon Network Europe, Cartoon Network Latin America & Caribbean and Cartoon Network Japan.

Snyder rejoined Turner Broadcasting in 2005 as SVP and GM of GameTap after heading the company’s home entertainment division earlier in his career. The Binghamton University alum also served for a time as CEO of Cinar Corporation and did a stint as president and COO of World Wrestling Entertainment.
