Toys ‘R’ Us names Target vet to new position

The venerable toy retailer has poached Robert Giampietro to be its very first SVP of trend and innovation for the US market. He has spent more than 30 years in the merchandising business, 23 of these at Target.

The venerable toy retailer has poached Robert Giampietro to be its very first SVP of trend and innovation for the US market.

Giampietro has spent more than 30 years in the merchandising business, 23 of these at Target. As VP of strategic alliances and new business for the chain, Giampietro masterminded new store strategies and prototypes including Greatland and SuperTarget.

In his new role, Giampietro will be responsible for identifying trends, developing new retail concepts and otherwise maximizing the value of the Toys ‘R’ Us brand.
