• Discovery Communications has announced that it will close its 103 mall-based and stand alone Discovery Channel stores by the end of the third quarter and affect 1,000 full-time and part job jobs or 25% of Discovery Communications global work force.
• Toys ‘R’ Us collected US$1.1 million during its seven-week in-store campaign for charity Autism Speaks, which seeks to help autistic children cope and funds research on the disorder that affects some 1.5 million kids and their families in the US.
• Vivendi Visual Entertainment, the home entertainment division of Universal Music Group Distribution has inked a multi-year deal to bring public television preschool series Mustard Pancakes to DVD. The first instalment of the series is expected to be released this September.
