A new short-form reality series called America’s Greatest Makers from Survivor and Shark Tank creator Mark Burnett, Intel and TBS is set to reach children’s hospitals across the US on Children’s Television Network starting next month.

With a US$1 million grand prize at stake, the series follows 24 teams of kid makers in a competition to create new tech innovations that enhance people’s daily lives in areas such as healthcare and entertainment.

Wearable and smart device tech, using Intel’s button-sized, low-power computer module Curie, are among the innovations featured in the series.

Judges for America’s Greatest Makers include Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, financial expert Carol Roth, co-host of truTV’s Hack My Life Kevin Pereira, professional basketball icons Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith, The Big Bang Theory‘s Mayim Bialik, and Massimo Banzi, maker and co-founder of Arduino.

US network TBS will also air the series on Tuesdays, and the program is supported online at americasgreatestmakers.com with short-form videos, behind-the-scenes footage, how-to tech tutorials, and stories produced by VIMBY.

Intel provides the narrowcast technology that delivers Children’s Television Network to children’s hospitals in the US.
