Marvel Entertainment has appointed Joann McLaughlin to the newly created position of EVP of merchandising, while Susan Fields steps into the role of VP of merchandising for its consumer products categories.

Mclaughlin and Fields will be responsible for managing all aspects of Marvel’s merchandising programs, with McLaughlin focusing on hard line categories in the US and toys, games and related items internationally. Fields’ focus will be on soft lines in North America and the pair will work together with partners to develop seasonal line plans and products.

McLaughlin joined the company in 1992 and most recently served as co-chief operating officer for the company’s Marvel Toys division, managing day-to-day operations and supervising all product development.

Prior to joining Marvel, Fields was chief marketing, merchandising and operating officer for Scott Evans Consulting, a direct-marketing company specializing in high-end private-label consumer goods.
