Noida, India-based animation studio Digitoonz Media & Entertainment has secured an international co-production deal with Barcelona’s Teidees Audiovisual and TV3 (Televisió De Catalunya) for the second season of its 2D-animated preschool series Misha the Purple Cat.

Based on a popular children’s book series by Philip Stanton, an American author/illustrator based in Barcelona, Misha the Purple Cat follows the adventures of the titular feline and her animal friends as they investigate mysteries and partake in hilarious competitions.

The 52 x seven-minute comedy-adventure is set to begin production on April 15, with broadcast delivery expected for September 2017.

Budgeted at US$1.2 million, Digitoonz is financing 12% of the costs for seasons one and two. TV3 and Teidees, meanwhile, are covering 34.3% and 53.7% of the budget, respectively.

Digitoonz is also planning a consumer products program around the brand.
