Following the launch of its full-length Edgar & Ellen series, Chicago’s Star Farm is turning to the city’s Yowza Animation and Toronto, Canada-based Cuppa Coffee to animate its next production, The Kinetics.
The 52 x 11-minute series blends CGI and stop-motion techniques to bring the music-driven narrative about superhero dancers to the screen. The preschool series will also include a 60-second live-action ‘dance break’ that aims to teach its audience a featured dance. And like E&E, Kinetics will launch as a nine-book series, with the first three titles rolling out in the US from Harcourt in fall 2008. The TV series and online portal will follow.
Star Farm is bowing the series at MIPCOM next week along with Cuppa Coffee, which will also be shopping its new stop-motion interactive teen series, Life’s a Zoo.tv, around the market.
