Academy Award-winning filmmaker Barbara Kopple is taking the a real-life look at a High School Musical-like plot with her documentary on the trials and tribulations of Fort Worth, Texas-based student theatre company H20 Productions as it attempts to stage a production of the hit Disney musical.

The resulting High School Musical: The Music In You, presented in association with the NAMM Foundation, will air as a series of 12 interstitials every week on Disney Channel US, starting Saturday, October 27. The series culminates on Sunday, January 20 in a half-hour look at the opening night of H20’s production of High School Musical.

The short-form series will also be presented in Disney DXD at www.DisneyChannel.com and get mobile play on Sprint TV beginning in November.

The student production, like hundreds across the US, was made possible by Disney Channel and NAMM Foundation’s High School Musical School Grant Program, an initiative that provides grants to middle and high schools across the US to cover licensing costs associated with producing the show.
