Cartoon Network Enterprises has peered into the property well and pulled out 1990s enviro-hero Captain Planet, who is making his return on a brand-new line of t-shirts from apparel manufacturer Local Celebrity.

Local Celebrity is rolling out a full assortment of Captain Planet t-shirts for men, women and kids at high-end, specialty retailers and department stores across the US this holiday season.

Created by Ted Turner in 1990, Captain Planet is the original mullet-sporting environmentally concerned superhero who constantly does battle with villains bent on destroying the planet, including Verminous Skumm and Sly Sludge.

The Captain Planet and the Planeteers television series currently airs weekdays on Boomerang in the US and the net will once again run a 12-hour Captain Planet marathon in April to celebrate Earth Day.
