Toy-based animated comedy Mutant Busters from European entertainment company Planeta Junior is set to debut in Spain on Neox Kidz (Atresmedia) on October 31.

Co-produced by Spanish toyco Famosa and animation studio Kotoc, in collaboration with Neox Kidz, the 52 x 11-minute series for six- to eight-year-olds follows the adventures of a group of humans known as La Résistance who are forced into battle against stinking mutants in an apocalyptic setting after a major toxic gas explosion divided Earth.

Neox Kidz kicked off a TV and web marketing campaign in mid-August encouraging kids to join La Résistance, and a week before its Neox Kidz premiere, viewers will be able to catch a special first series webisode of Mutant Busters on Atresmedia Televisión.

Launched as a transmedia IP with the expertise of Kotoc, the last three minutes of each episode are formatted as a vlog entry and can be aired separately as a webisode.

Plans are also in the works to expand the property into apps and augmented reality experiences while Famosa rolls out a toy line.

Planeta Junior holds worldwide rights to the property, both for TV and licensing.
