B*tween Productions is getting a major boost for its Beacon Street Girls book series, as Simon & Schuster tween imprint Aladdin M!X has just snapped up the license to the girls property.
Aladdin M!X is now taking care of the marketing and distributiton for the books worldwide, while B*tween will continue to drive the creative for the award-winning stories. Katani’s Jamaican Holiday, due out in early 2008, is the 15th Beacon Street Girls book and the first title produced under the new partnership. New books will be published four times a year.
The Aladdin M!X program, introduced earlier this year, is Simon & Schuster’s first effort at creating an exclusive line of paperback originals for nine- to 13-year-old girls.
Created in 2004, Beacon Street Girls was designed to help pre-teen girls navigate adolescence through friendship-focused contemporary fiction and an online community. KidScreen Summit 2006 attendees got an early look at the property, when B*tween CEO Addie Swartz participated in the event’s legendary Pitch It session.
