Latin American children’s broadcaster Discovery Kids has joined forces with Oscar-winner Juan Jose Campanella’s animation studio Mundoloco CGI, as well as with Cris Morena Group, to develop three animated series.

New series Floribella, Underdogs and Baby Rockers will air across Latin American exclusively on Discovery Kids, which is currently the leading PayTV network in Brazil.

Mundoloco CGI co-founder Juan Jose Campanella directed the animated feature film Underdogs (Metegol), pictured, which has become the largest animated feature film to come out of  its home country Argentina. The 2013 film, featuring the voices of Ariana Grande, John Leguizamo and Bobby Moynihan,  is slated for a North American premiere courtesy of The Weinstein Company.

Underdogs, the animated series, goes beyond the foosball table  and deeper into the lives of the film’s popular characters. The series in set in a run down-amusement arcade with a classic and much-used foosball table, which sits on top of the entrance to the magical world of Sportsville. When the floodlights go out on the table, five of the players, including two new female characters, enter Sportsville to prevent a diabolical mastermind from achieving his aim of ending all sports.

Aside from adapting the Underdogs franchise for the small screen, and introducing the new IP Baby Rockers,  which features a multicultural band of babies who love to rock, Mundoloco will work with Cris Morena Group (owned by Argentine television and theater producer, director and music composer Cris Morena) and Discovery Kids on the development of Floribella.

The latter is based on the popular live-action series Floricienta, which spans more than 250 episodes. Floribella is the story of an energetic and curious 15-year-old girl living a sort of normal life in a present-day city, where her world includes the wealthy family next door for whom she babysits, a best friend who happens to be a fly, emotions who take the form of fairies and a materialistic stepmother and stepsister who seem right out of a fairy tale.
