Despite gloom and doom predictions tied to the spate of pre-holiday toy recalls in the US, Wayne, New Jersey-based toy retailer Toys ‘R’ Us is reporting that holiday store sales remained comparable to last year’s.

The retailer’s US division noted a comparable store sales increase of 3.1% over the same period last year. Strong sales of Fisher-Price’s Smart Cycle Physical Learning Arcade System, Nintendo’s Wii and DS Lite consoles, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock from Activision and, of course, Hannah Montana products from Jakks Pacific helped bolster domestic performance.

The Babies ‘R’ Us division also marked a slight gain of 0.9% in comparable store sales for the period and international numbers charted a 0.9% bump, driven by strong sales in TRU’s UK, Southern Europe and Canadian outlets.
