Nickelodeon is cranking up the heat on preschool property The Backyardigans, as it gets ready to launch a new CD, TV movie and a multi-city live tour for the five little imaginative friends.

The movie Tale of the Mighty Knight is set to premiere on Nickelodeon US on January 14, with the Nickelodeon/Sony BMG CD Born to Play hitting stores on January 22.

The 50-city tour, meanwhile, is slated to kick off on March 28 in York, Penn., and will follow the lead of other successful Nick travelling shows, including Go, Diego, Go Live! and Dora The Explorer Live.

The show tells the story of Pablo, Uniqua, Tasha, Tryone and Austin as they face a mighty dragon and attempt to return a stolen egg to the king, and will include singing, dancing and songs from the rock-opera-like movie.
