New York City-based 4Kids Entertainment has a lot riding on its Chaotic Trading Card Game and, so far, initial retail and online results look promising.

Chaotic trading cards are now available in more than 10,000 locations across North American with a major presence in retail outlets such as Target, Toys ‘R’ Us, Wal-Mart, GameStop, Kmart, f.y.e. and Suncoast.

And according to 4Kids in just over two months, Chaotic’s online component continues to increase in popularity, netting more than two million online cards registered, over one million online visits and nearly 200,000 games played online since its October 24 beta launch.

Web traffic is up 50% from the first week of January and has scored players from more than 70 countries around the world.

4Kids Entertainment and TC Digital Games are supporting Chaotic with a multi-million dollar TV ad campaign on kid-targeted media, including 4Kids TV (the four-hour kids’ block on FOX Saturday mornings), Cartoon Network, Jetix/Toon Disney, Nickelodeon, KidsWB (the CW network), along with tween demo fare on Adult Swim, G4 and MTV.

Starting this month, Chaotic tournaments will be hosted by a variety of hobby shops throughout the US.
