New York City-based Scholastic has acquired the worldwide rights to a historal picture book by two-time Newbery Medalist and Margaret A. Edwards Award winner, Lois Lowry.
Crow Call will be illustrated by Bagram Ibatoulline and is scheduled for publication in fall 2009.
Set in the late 1940s in the US, the tale will be based on events in Lowry’s own childhood and her re-acquaintance with her father, a World War Two veteran.
Lowry’s popular Anastasia Krupnik series and her trilogy The Giver, Gathering Blue and Messenger, have made her a sought after author in the children’s space.
