Underwater-themed preschool property Octonauts is aiming to make waves with Portland, Oregon-based app maker Night & Day Studios, which will develop and launch the IP’s first app title at the end of the year.

Night & Day joins a growing Octonauts licensing program that already includes key partners such as Penguin (publishing) and Fisher-Price (toys).

Octonauts debuted three years ago on Disney Jr. in the US, and has been on air ever since. Most recently, the preschool series was picked up for a fourth season by CBeebies in the UK. Based on books by Meomi, Octonauts follows along with a group of animals as they explore the world’s oceans and protect their inhabitants.

It is the second IP this month to partner up with Night & Day. Just last week, the studio announced a deal with American Greetings Properties to create a set of early learning apps based on the Care Bears.
