Corus lauds increased broadcast revenues

Toronto, Canada-based Corus Entertainment’s Q2 reporting was highlighted by continued growth from its broadcasting arm.

Including Canadian kidsnets YTV and Treehouse, Corus enjoyed an increase of 8% in specialty television advertising revenue contributing to consolidated revenues for Q2 of US$175 million up 2% from last year.

Net income for the quarter was US$34.6 million compared to a net income of US$19.1 million thanks to US$12.9 million recoveries related to income tax changes.

Corus Television contributed quarterly revenues of US$102.4 million, up 4% from last year.

Consolidated revenues for the six months ended February 29, 2008 were US$385.4 million, up 3% last year. Consolidated segment profit was US$130 million, up 5% from last year.
