Spanish studio Imira Entertainment has built a bunch of new deals around key property Lola & Virginia in hopes that the brand’s momentum will attract even more new business at Licensing Show in New York next month.
On the programming side of things, Nickelodeon Korea has become the fifth Nick channel to acquire the series, and Turkey’s Digiturk has picked up pay-TV rights to all 52 eps. DVD rights have been snapped up by Planet of Hits in Russia and Quality Films in Chile, and Imira has inked a VOD deal with PorchLight’s KidMango service in the US.
In Latin America, IMC Licensing has acquired merch rights to the property for Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia. And Canada’s Tribal Nova, a developer and distributor of interactive content, virtual video games and video-on-demand environments, has picked up Lola & Virginia for its Kid Studio website.
In all, Lola & Virginia has been sold in 90 territories to broadcasters including RAI, RTVE, France 3 and RTP, as well as Nickelodeon Latin America, Asia, France and Benelux and Disney Channel in Spain and Italy.
